Adobong Pusit

Nagpunta ako sa weekend market this morning para mamili ng pagkain ko for the week at ito ang mga napamili ko. Mayroon pa akong mga fruits and gulay from last week kaya medyo konti ang binili ko. I am trying to reduce yung pagtatapon ng sobra at nasirang pagkain. Sayang kasi.

My weekend market haul: Asparagus, broccoli, plums, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries

I thought of buying shrimps again pero naglakas-loob akong lutuin ulit ang adobong pusit. I failed the first time X years ago kaya na-trauma na ako. Haha! But panalo ngayon. The final product is exactly what I want it to be. Alam ko sasabihin niyo nagbubuhat ako ng sarili kong bangko pero pang sosyal na carinderia talaga ang level niya sa sarap. Isang order ng adobong pusit sa Pinoy restaurant dito ay mga nasa 15 euros. I made mine for half a kilo of the pusit for much less than 10 euros. Why dine out if you can cook it for less at mas masarap pa?

My very own sweet and spicy adobong pusit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kilo of baby squid
    • Separate head and body
    • Remove spine (filament) from the body
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 water
  • sugar, salt and pepper to taste
  • siling labuyo (if you want it spicy)

Procedure:

  1. Saute garlic, onion and tomato
  2. Add the squid and cook for about 5 mins (until half-cooked)
  3. Add soy sauce, vinegar and water. Let it boil and simmer for about 20 minutes to cook the squid well.
  4. Add the siling labuyo.
  5. Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste.

I like my adobong pusit sweet and spicy, so feel free to play around the recipe to suit your taste. Lastly, huwag kalimutang magsaing habang niluluto ito. Maraming beses na itong nangyari sa akin. Kain na kain na ako, yun pala wala pang kanin. Haaaist! Haha!

Enjoy!
